Verizon Wireless Opens Its First Communications Store In Hoboken, New Jersey
Company to Host McGruff Safe Kids Program at New Store on Saturday, March 28
HOBOKEN, NJ — Verizon Wireless, the leading wireless company with the most reliable voice and data network, opened its newest “evolution” Communications Store in Hoboken this week.
The store, located at 93 Washington Street across from City Hall, is the first Verizon Wireless store in Hoboken and incorporates a new interactive retail design inviting consumers to experience wireless voice, data, music and video services in a sleek, full-service environment. Store hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The store phone number is 201-656-2870. Features of the new store include:
•Over 2,000 square-feet of retail, technical support and customer service space.
•Interactive product and service demos available throughout the store.
•Integrated systems and operational enhancements designed to streamline the sales process and increase customer satisfaction.
•A check-in kiosk inviting customers to sign in on arrival and stay informed via monitors that track their place in the queue for service.
•Roomy and easy to locate technical assistance and customer support area.
Staffed by knowledgeable wireless professionals, the new location offers Hoboken consumers and businesses a broad range of services and equipment, including VZ Navigator(SM) (Version 4.5) which adds traffic and gas station information to audible turn-by-turn directions and the popular BlackBerry™ Storm®. The Storm combines the powerful communications features, global connectivity and personal productivity advantages of the BlackBerry platform with a revolutionary touch-screen technology that dramatically enhances the touch interface and enables easy and precise typing.
Verizon Wireless has a long history of commitment to family safety and is a recognized corporate leader for its commitment to preventing domestic violence and raising awareness of the issue. In keeping with that commitment, the company will host the McGruff Safe Kids Total Identification System Program at its new Hoboken store on Saturday, March 28. Trained professionals will be on site to fingerprint and digitally photograph children. That information will be printed in color on full-size ID cards and laminated wallet-size ID cards for parents to take home. In addition, parents will be given a demonstration of Verizon Wireless’ Chaperone® Service and be entered into a raffle to win a free LG 5500 wireless phone. The program is free of charge to families.
Store Manager Francis Gallic is also encouraging area residents to join the company in its efforts to help survivors of domestic violence by bringing no-longer-used wireless phones to the store for donation to the company’s HopeLine® phone recycling program. HopeLine collects used cell phones to be recycled or sold and donates the proceeds in the form of cash grants and pre-paid wireless phones to advocacy groups for use by survivors.
Verizon Wireless was the first wireless carrier in the nation to collect and recycle old cell phones, and has done so on behalf of survivors of domestic violence since January 1999 – first in New Jersey and then across the U.S. In October 2008, the company introduced UHopeLine, expanding its recycling efforts to college campuses. The first permanent collection sites were introduced at Rutgers University’s New Brunswick campus late last year.
The new Hoboken Communications Store is the company's third retail location in Hudson County, and one of more than 150 Verizon Wireless retail locations in the New York Metro area.
