WiMAX licensee Global Mobile to join planned SI firm organized by MOEA, CHT and Intel, says paper

Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has invited WiMAX licensee Global Mobile to commit equity investment in the planned system integrator (SI) company being organized by the Taiwan government, CHT and Intel, according to a Chinese-language Commercial Times report.

The planned SI company, which will have a start up capital of NT$1 billion (US$28.6 million), is part of Intel's commitment with Taiwan's Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) for the investment and purchase of US$500 million in related telecom products over a five-year period from 2008-2012, the paper said.

Intel has committed a NT$386 million investment in another WiMAX licensee, Vmax Telecom, through its investment arm Intel Capital, the paper noted.
