Arima Communications to start shipping S312 to Sony Ericsson in 2Q09
Arima Communications is expected to start shipping the S312 EDGE-enabled handset to Sony Ericsson later this quarter, according to market sources.
With shipments of the S312 and four existing models, Arima may ship a total of 5-6 million handsets to Sony Ericsson in 2009, the sources noted.
In addition, Arima's handset shipments to LG Electronics (LGE) are also expected to gain momentum starting in the second quarter that will push Arima's second-quarter handset shipments to 3.3-3.5 million units, compared to 2.43 million units shipped in the first quarter, the sources said.
Arima's overall shipments to LGE are likely to top 7-8 million units this year, the sources estimated.
