U.S. CELLULAR BECOMES OFFICIAL WIRELESS PROVIDER OF UNIVERSITY OF MAINE ATHLETICS

University of Maine Invites the Local Community to Meet the Black Bears and its Newest Sponsor.

ORONO, Maine, – State Representative Emily Ann Cain, Director of Parks & Recreation with the town of Orono, Norman Poirier, University of Maine faculty and students joined U.S. Cellular today to celebrate the company’s three-year sponsorship agreement with the University of Maine Athletics, making U.S. Cellular the university’s official wireless provider. After the press conference, the University of Maine invited the community to Meet the Black Bears, an opportunity for local residents and children to meet the Black Bear coaching staff and student-athletes.

"There is such a rich tradition in college athletics that means a lot to the community, students, alumni, and the many fans across the state," said State Representative Emily Ann Cain. "The support of companies like U.S. Cellular helps to keep this tradition alive and well."

U.S. Cellular will sponsor the University of Maine’s football, ice hockey, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball and softball teams beginning fall 2009.

"Our customers and associates are amongst the many students, faculty, and alumni of the University of Maine, and we are pleased to support college athletics for fans throughout the region," said Stacey Gagne, U.S. Cellular field marketing manager in New England. "We believe in connecting people and sporting events are a great way to bring family, friends, and community together."

In addition to the sponsorship, the University of Maine Athletic Department will utilize U.S. Cellular’s BlackBerry and cell phone services.
