On2 Technologies Releases Updated DirectShow SDK

CLIFTON PARK, N.Y. -- On2 Technologies (NYSE Amex: ONT), a leading provider of video compression technology, announced that its On2 VP8 SDK for DirectShow software is available for commercial licensing. The SDK (software development kit) enables developers to easily create applications for VP8 within the Microsoft® DirectShow® multimedia framework included in Microsoft® Windows®.

In addition to functions for encoding and decoding VP6 for Flash and VP8 video streams, the SDK contains DirectShow filters for combining video with audio streams in MP4 multimedia file containers as well as video resizing, deinterlacing, editing and much more.

"Our VP8 SDK for DirectShow brings our most advanced video format to the most popular multimedia framework in the PC market," said Frank Galligan, VP of Engineering at On2. "This product builds on our popular Flix SDK for DirectShow, which many of our customers use today to create On2 VP6 for Flash video applications for Windows."

With the release of the VP8 SDK for DirectShow, the family of SDKs for On2's next-generation VP8 video format has grown to four. In addition to the DirectShow SDK, On2 released low-level VP8 codec SDKs for Windows, Linux and Mac OS in first half of 2009.

The VP8 SDK for DirectShow is available immediately. Licensing inquiries should be directed to sales@on2.com.
