Megafon 3G covered all the district centers of the Nizhny Novgorod region
Central Branch of the operator MegaFon said on achieving 100% strength cover all regional centers of the Nizhny Novgorod region of the third generation network. During 2010 there was built more than 500 3G base stations and investments amounted to 1 billion rubles. Until the end of 2011 it is planned to increase the speed of data transmission in the 3G network is almost 3 times.
According to the director of the Central Branch of OJSC "MegaFon" Andrew Eremkin, MegaFon is the first cellular operator, has reached 100% coverage of the 3G network in district centers of the Nizhny Novgorod region.
In 2010, the number of 3G-mounted base stations and the length of the transport network surpassed the total construction volume for the previous 5 years. Already today, half of the base stations in the region are connected to the fiber-optic communication lines. In the Central branch (Bryansk, Vladimir, Kaluga, Kursk, Nizhny Novgorod, Orel, Ryazan, Tula region) in 2010 were installed about 1000 base stations of 3G - four times more than in 2009. Of them in the Nizhny Novgorod region - more than 500. The volume of investments in the development of a network of Nizhny Novgorod Region has exceeded 1 billion rubles.
Currently, the speed of data transmission in the 3G network is up to 14.4 Mbps. By the end of 2011 is planned to increase this figure to 42 Mbps. Average data transfer rate in busy hours is 3.8 Mbps.
