Partnership projects win Gold medal
The two collaborative research projects WINNER+ and 100GET , where Ericsson held leading positions, received Excellence Award in Gold by the Celtic Core Group at the 2011 Celtic-Plus Event in Heidelberg, Germany.
WINNER+ had a strong international impact in shaping the technology choices and standards for the fourth generation (4G) wireless communication technologies and contributed to the development, standardization and evaluation of the IMT-Advanced system. 100GET addressed new networking concepts and physical layer technologies for next generation Ethernet based transport networks (beyond 10GbE) in order to cost-efficiently increase the transmission capacity of optical transport networks.
Ericsson had leading positions in both projects. In WINNER+ as technical manager and in 100GET as a sub-project leader.

Celtic-Plus is an industry-driven European research initiative to define, perform and finance through public and private funding common research projects in the area of telecommunications, new media, future Internet, and applications & services focusing on a new "Smart Connected World" paradigm.
