Tele2 summarizes the I quarter of 2011
The European telecommunications company Tele2 AB announced today results of operations in Russia in I quarter of 2011. Company's subscriber base increased by 547,000 new users, indicating that the demand for services Tele2 even amid lower consumer spending and increased competition in the market. The number of subscribers in Russia at the end of I quarter totaled 18,985,000.
As noted by Dmitri Strashnov, president of Tele2 Russia, the main source of growth for the company continue to serve new regions, where Tele2 started operations in 2009. This year, all they have to cross the threshold of breaking even. Russian business Tele2 continues to grow faster than the market, indicating that the efficiency of the business model in a highly competitive mobile communications market.
