Xperia Play delayed until “early next week”, says Three

Uh oh, things aren’t looking good for Sony Ericsson. Following the announcements from O2 and Vodafone, Three has revealed that it is also delaying shipments of the Xperia Play.

Speaking to DialToSave, a Three spokesperson confirmed that there has been a “slight delay” with the Xperia Play, with the numerical network expecting stock of the PlayStation Phone to arrive in its stores from “early next week”.

Although originally set to start shipping tomorrow (April 1st), Three didn’t reveal the reasons for the hold-up. While O2 found “bugs in the software” of the Android gamer, Vodafone admitted the delay was due to stock issues.

Earlier today, Sony Ericsson commented on the issues, saying:

“We can confirm that the Xperia PLAY handsets are still planned to launch in the UK for 1st April, as originally communicated. However, as of today, we have experienced a freight issue that may impact the number of Xperia PLAYs arriving at some retail outlets. This said, consumers can purchase Xperia PLAY as of April 1st at a number of stores across the UK.”

While it was thought Orange would also be facing problems, the network has confirmed that it will start shipping the handset from tomorrow, as planned.
