The new quad-core Qualcomm


The company Qualcomm Incorporated today announced that its subsidiary, Qualcomm Technologies has expanded its mobile processor Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with two new chipsets - MSM8226 and MSM8626.

These quad-core processors, according to the company, are intended for use in high-end models of multimedia smartphones with support for 3G networks. They are equipped with built-in graphics processor, Adreno 305, support for Full HD video (recording and playback) and matrices with up to 13 MP. In addition, MSM8226 and MSM8626 are optimized for power consumption and supports UMTS, CDMA and TD-SCDMA networks.

Like the previous quad-core company, the new MSM8226 and MSM8626 processor manufactured using 28-nm process and provide support to work with two SIM cards in either Dual Standby, and in the mode Dual Active.

In addition to the quad-core processor, the new chipsets come with a new multi-mode transceiver WTR2605, optimized for the Chinese radio market, maintaining standards of TD-SCDMA, CDMA 1xAdv and HSPA +. This transceiver is 60% smaller in size as compared to the previous generation, and 40% energy efficiency. In addition, the transceiver also integrates a high-performance GPS-kernel that supports, in addition to that, the navigation system "Beidou" and GLONASS.

Both processors will be available to customers in the second quarter of next year.
