Sony plans to become the number 3 on the smartphone market

Sony company has ambitious plans to expand its presence in the smartphone market. A place that guide the Japanese company sees as promising, located directly behind the leaders companies - Samsung and Apple. The main competitors on the way to the coveted third line rankings on the number placed on the market of "smart phones" are the rapidly growing Chinese companies Huawei and ZTE. This opinion was expressed about the prospects of Sony Kunimasa Suzuki, who served as director of mobile division of the company. At the same time as the main rival LG is not considered, since the share of the Korean company is not growing and has significant preconditions for growth. The key to growth, according to Mr. Suzuki is the fact that Sony is suitable for the development of smart phones with the requirements of each individual market. According to IDC, as of December 31, 2012, Sony was the fourth largest producer of smartphones, with market share of 4.5%, falling from 0.4% to Huawei and ZTE ahead by 0.2%. In turn, according to the Gartner Sony is ranked 9th in the world in the production of mobile phones, with up to 4 quarters in 2012 its share was only 1.7%, while a year earlier the rate was at 1.9%.
