Samsung Granted New Tablet Design Patents & More
Yesterday the US Patent and Trademark Office published a few notable granted patents for Samsung in respect to design patents covering tablets and a washing machine that will incorporate a full touch display for operations. On the Tablet front, there are two distinct designs. The first one is simply titled "Tablet Computer" could be looking to the active student or business user who would appreciate the built-in case with a handle that could double as a stand for quick presentations. The second design which is titled "Tablet PC" is equally intriguing in that it could be a design that incorporates a flexible display. The problem with all design patents is that they don't provide the public with any relevant detail specifics. It's truly a mindless WYSIWYG approach to patents.

Samsung Granted a Tablet PC Patent
In Samsung's second design patent tilted "Tablet PC" we see a design that could very well depend on a future flexible display. The design covers a tablet with a seam that i allows the user to bend a part of the display to create a s mini stand that just might double as a virtual keyboard.
In design patents, dotted lines aren't officially a part of the physical design. And yet the industrial designer/engineer is clearly making an effort to convey a distinct visual that supports some kind of tablet work space. Whether that will translate into a virtual keyboard, gaming control area or for use with a stylus is unknown at this time. .
Samsung Washing Machine with Touch Based LCD Display
I think we all saw this one coming. Yes, appliances like a washer and drying being controlled by a touch display rather than physical knobs and switches.
