Opera for Android users in Russia up 19.7% in third quarter
Opera Software has announced that the number of Opera for Android users in Russia has increased by 19.7% since the second quarter of 2013. It has also revealed the top-10 most popular phones and websites of the third quarter among Russian users of Opera’s mobile browsers.
In the third quarter, smartphone penetration among Russian users of the Opera mobile browsers has increased by 4% since the previous quarter; now 37.5% of the total number of Russian users of Opera Mini and Opera for Android are using smartphones to browse the web. Particularly, the number of Android- and iOS-based smartphones has increased by 20.2% and 10.6%, respectively.
Opera has also seen the growth in mobile data usage among Opera Mini users in Russia: since the second quarter of 2013, data traffic has risen by 8.6%.

The five leading Android handsets in the second quarter remained the same for the third quarter of 2013. Samsung Galaxy S III Mini replaced Samsung Galaxy Note in the sixth place of the third quarter's top-10 list. Since Q2, Samsung phones have managed to strengthen their positions in the
top 10, displacing HTC, which is represented only by the HTC One X now that HTC's Incredible S and Desire S have dropped from the list. Moreover, the HTC One X moved down from eighth place to ninth.

The Yandex and Google search engines, the Vkontakte and Odnoklassniki social networks, and the Mail.ru email service are all at the top of the rankings. Google was understandably more popular among Android smartphone users, while Wikipedia and Mail.ru are in higher demand among iOS users.
