Samsung To Release More Tablets With AMOLED Displays In 2014
More Samsung AMOLED Tablets to Hit the Market Next Year
As some of you might already know, earlier today Samsung hosted the “Analyst Day” conference in Korea, in its own “Shilla” hotel located in Seoul, where nearly 350 analysts have been present.
Now, according to the Korean media, during the Analyst Day it has been revealed that Samsung will indeed be focusing more on than ever on tablets, in 2014. Specifically, it appears that the Korean giant will release more AMOLED tablets. Some of you might know that the only tablet that came out of Sammy’s factory gates with an AMOLED display on-board (Super AMOLED Plus, to be more specific) is the Galaxy Tab 7.7, so this is pretty exciting news.
Why AMOLED? Well, the benefits of using such a display are many. For instance, the panel is capable of generating darker “blacks” than any other type of mobile display. AMOLED panels achieve this by actually turning off parts of the screen. So when you see pure black, then what you’re looking at is actually a pixel (or more) being turned off.
A by-product of type of technology is also better battery life. Since certain pixels are going to turn off now and again –even while you’re using the device- less energy is required. More importantly perhaps, is the fact that AMOLED screens don’t need a backlight – yet another factor that saves up on battery juice.
