Samsung won’t update the first-generation Galaxy Tab S to Marshmallow
If you’re the proud owner of an 8.4- or 10.5-inch first-generation Galaxy Tab S, you may want to listen up as we have some rather unfortunate news for you. Yesterday evening, Samsung Mobile Netherlands took to its official Facebook page to reveal that the firm will not distribute the long-awaited Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to either model of the slate in Europe.
Unfortunately, it’s currently unclear why the Galaxy Tab S won’t be receiving the upgrade. After all, it was recently spotted in a benchmark test running Android 6.0.1, and a reliable industry insider even confirmed exclusively to us that the firmware was scheduled to start rolling out in the third quarter. All we can do is speculate that the manufacturer ran into some serious issues while adapting the software for use on the device.
