Nokia Nseries and Tropfest@Tribeca Announce the Slice of Life Mobile Clip Contest
- You may already have the tool to win right in your front pocket -
WHITE PLAINS, N.Y., Aug. 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- As a provider of advancements in wireless technology that have made it possible for anyone to capture the world around them at a moment's notice, Nokia has partnered with Tropfest@Tribeca, the US extension of the world's largest short film festival -- Tropfest, to create the Slice of Life contest. The contest calls for anyone with a video mobile phone to capture a slice of their life, a moment in their day, an expression of their world and send it in as a video postcard clip. This new contest, which is unique in that it calls for content shot entirely on a mobile phone, is being sponsored by Nokia Nseries, which offers a range of award-winning high performance multimedia devices from the world's leading manufacturer of mobile phones, and plays off the official signature item incorporated into the 2007 Tropfest@Tribeca films, Slice.
"This is a great opportunity for Nokia and Nseries to partner in Tropfest@Tribeca with the 'Slice of Life' contest," said Andrew Elliott, Director of Multimedia Experiences, Nokia North America. "Our research indicates that nearly half of all respondents used their mobile phone as their primary camera, and using your mobile for video capture is a natural extension. Seeing that manifest itself at this event will prove how a mobile phone can empower people to not only capture, but easily share memorable moments, as they occur throughout their day to day life."
Aspiring filmmakers, hobbyists, and everyday consumers can submit a clip up to 30 seconds shot on a mobile wireless device for consideration in the Nokia Nseries Slice of Life contest. Each submission should be a spontaneous clip that captures the creator's idea of life in a moment. The contest is open to anyone over 18 years of age and all entries must be submitted to Tropfest@Tribeca at http://www.tribecafilm.com/tropfest by September 7, 2007.
Up to five Slices of Life will be chosen as finalists by Tropfest@Tribeca executives. The award winning Slice will be selected by John Polson, Creative Director and Co-Founder of Tropfest@Tribeca and screened during Tropfest@Tribeca on September 23, 2007 at the World Financial Center's North Cove in New York City. Nokia Nseries will fly the winning filmmaker and one guest to New York City for all of the Tropfest festivities. The winner will also receive the much-heralded Nokia N95 multimedia computer, the groundbreaking Nokia N800 Internet Tablet and the stylish Nokia BH-801 Bluetooth headset.
Tropfest founder John Polson and Tribeca Enterprises debuted Tropfest@Tribeca during the 2006 Tribeca Film Festival to massive crowds; it was such a huge success that this year it moves to the fall as its own stand alone Festival.
