Motorola Announces 2-slot AdvancedTCA Communications Server
Latest ATCA-based platform enables cost-effective implementation of smaller scale, standalone and distributed systems
TEMPE, Ariz. – 18 September 2007 – Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) today announced the Motorola CentellisTM 2000, an AdvancedTCA® platform providing all the business benefits of larger communications servers, but in a compact, 2-slot version.
With integrated power and shelf management, and capable of reusing any of the AdvancedTCA payload from its larger peers, the Centellis 2000 offers a cost-effective, industry standard solution suitable for smaller scale deployments, such as rural and low-density subscriber locations, as well as self-contained applications such as security, media processing and telecom servers. Initially targeted at the telecom industry, the Centellis 2000 also can address fixed military and government installations, depending on the application.
The Centellis 2000 features a front-to-rear cooling architecture and is designed to meet Network Equipment Building System (NEBS) requirements. The new system enables network equipment providers (NEPs) to take advantage of their existing AdvancedTCA (ATCA®) deployments by reusing hardware and software, providing investment protection and helping to reduce time to market and development cost. With both AC and redundant DC powered variants available, the Centellis 2000 is equally at home in data centers and enterprise environments as well as central office locations.
Adding to its flexibility, the Centellis 2000 is designed to be Communications Platform Trade Association (CP-TA) B.4 capable, which provides the CP-TA’s highest level of thermal performance. According to CP-TA specifications, this capability will enable the Centellis 2000 chassis to handle the highest power AdvancedTCA boards in both slots with the highest reliability and availability performance rating for components.
