HTC ships 800,000 HTC Touch handsets in three months
HTC Touch handsets, made by High Tech Computer (HTC) had shipments of 800,000 units in the first three months after launch, according to sources at handset makers.
Although the HTC Touch's shipment performance did not match that of Apple's iPhone, since each handset was launched in different markets and in cooperation with different in telecommunication partners, the two cannot be considered to be on a matching footing. The outcome of which company wins out in the battle for shipments will need to wait until HTC Touch launches in the US market and the iPhone ships in Europe later in the year, noted the sources.
HTC is currently planning to launch a new 3.5G-supporting version of the Touch with a sliding keypad, the Touch Dual, in Japan and Europe, while TouchFlo related technologies will also be used in some of HTC's other new handsets.
