Nokia Siemens Networks Expands Railway Communication and Provides GSM-Railway System for Hefei-Wuhan in China
Nokia Siemens Networks has been selected to implement GSM-R in the newly commissioned Hefei-Wuhan Passenger-dedicated Line. This line is located in the eastern section of Shanghai-Wuhan-Chengdu corridor and will encourage regional economic and cultural communication between the Midwest China and the eastern coast.
This marks another milestone for Nokia Siemens Networks in GSM-R segment after the recent contracts for Wuhan-Guangzhou Line—the longest high-speed railway in the world and for Hefei-Nanjing Line—China’s first passenger-dedicated line for commercial use.
The 360km Hefei-Wuhan Line has 14 stations, passes through Anhui and Hubei provinces. This line will be operational by early 2009.

The notable one is the Beijing-Tianjin Railway for Beijing 2008 Sport Games which is the first high-speed railway with the maximum speed of 350km/h. Besides, Nokia Siemens Networks is the exclusive provider of Chinese GSM-R intelligent network and HLRi systems. The GSM-R core network provided by Nokia Siemens Networks will serve the main railway lines and bear over 50% of the wireless communication traffic on Chinese railways.
