Mobile World Congress, Barcelona, Spain, – ACCESS CO., LTD. reinforced its leadership in the mobile industry with announcements supporting joint initiatives to deliver Linux-based platforms for mobile devices. Just one year after releasing the Product Development Kit for its ACCESS Linux Platform to licensees and partners, the Company confirmed that the platform will power the first open, mobile Linux handset for Orange. The new handset, expected to be available to Orange customers later this year, will be produced by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., and will give Orange customers the full benefits of the ACCESS Linux Platform, including an innovative and user-friendly Interface design, access to thousands of off-the-shelf Garnet™ OS-based applications available immediately, and integrated communication between applications, enabling a seamless user experience for music, messaging and other advanced features.

In a move to help unify the mobile Linux industry and further enable time-to-market development of open devices, ACCESS also announced that it has joined the LiMo Foundation as a Core member and will hold a seat on the LiMo Foundation board. In recognition of ACCESS’ proven track record with the developer community of successfully bringing to market its ACCESS Linux Platform Software Development Kit (SDK), ACCESS is spearheading the team tasked with developing the LiMo Foundation’s native Linux SDK suite.
