Qualcomm cooperates with Taiwan companies to develop new mobile consumer products
Qualcomm is cooperating with a number of Taiwan companies in the development of new mobile consumer products, leveraging Qualcomm's QST- and Snapdragon-series chipsets, with a number of new products expected to be delivered to market in the second half of this year, according to Luis Pineda, senior vice president of marketing and product management for Qualcomm CDMA Technologies (QCT).
While touting the merits of its QST- series consumer chipsets, which include the QST 1000, QST-1100 and QST 1105, at the recently concluded GSMA Mobile World Congress, Pineda stated that the QST-series chipsets offer a rich combination of functions catering to the needs of different markets.
Taiwan-based Mio Technology is currently developing connected PND products using Qualcomm's QST-series chipsets, with the company likely to be one of the vendors to launch the first-round of QST-based PND products to the market, Pineda noted.
Meanwhile, High Tech Computer is also undertaking product development using Qualcomm's Snapdragon-series chipsets, said Pineda, who also noted that Qualcomm plans to introduce new Snapdragon chipsets the upcoming 2008 Taipei Computex trade fair to be held in June.
