Arima Communications and Compal Communications post mixed results in February
The two leading Taiwan OEM handset makers – Arima Communications and Compal Communications – concluded mixed results in February, with Arima's revenues experiencing a 41.2% on-year increase for the month while Compal saw a drop of 30.8%, according to data available on the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
Arima's February revenues of NT$1.2 billion (US$39.1 million) also represented a increase of 7.1% from the previous month, the data showed.
Arima handset shipments climbed 15.4% sequentially to 750,000 units in February, bringing total shipments for the first two months of this year to 1.4 million units, according to company sources.
Meanwhile, Compal posted revenues of NT$2.7 billion in February, down 34.6% on month and also down 30.8% on year, according to TSE data.
For the first two months of 2008, Compal revenues amounted to NT$6.82 billion, a decrease of 24.5% from a year earlier, the company said.
Meanwhile, Compal plans to deal out dividends of NT$4.5 for 2007, including NT$4 in cash and NT$0.5 in shares, based on a net EPS (earnings per share) of NT$7.05 recorded in 2007, the company said.
