Gigabyte Communications lands mobile TV handset orders from Neuf Cegetel
Gigabyte Communications has landed orders for its t600 DVB-T enabled mobile phone from France-based mobile telecom operator Neuf Cegetel, which will market the mobile TV handset under the TWIN TNT trade name, according to sources in Taiwan's handset industry.
Neuf Cegetel has also established business relations with two other Taiwan handset makers, High Tech Computer (HTC) and Wistron NeWeb, the sources indicated.
In addition to the t600, Gigabyte has completed the development of another mobile TV handset, the MS808, which supports a variety of mobile TV standards, including DVB-T, DVB-H, ISDB-T and DMB, according to company sources. The MS808 also comes with built-in Wi-Fi and GPS functionalities.
Gigabyte recently also cooperated with PND vendor Garmin to develop a GPS-enable smartphone featuring a built-in 5-megapixel camera, the sources added.
