Headset maker Merry net earnings grow nearly 19% on year in 2007
Taiwan-based headset maker Merry Electronics posted after-tax profits of NT$896 million (US$29.4 million), or NT$5.63 per share, in 2007, increasing 18.9% on year.
However, the company said that its gross margin declined to 22.7% in 2007, down from 27.2% in 2006, due in part to increased R&D expenditure and investment losses in the forth quarter of last year.
Pre-tax profits for the fourth quarter of 2007 stood at NT$166 million, down slightly from the previous quarter and down 22.6% from the period a year earlier, the company said.
In other news, the company plans to deal out a dividend of NT$4.28 per share in cash for its performance in 2007, the company said after a board meeting.
