HTC to market Touch Dual in US through Best Buy
High Tech Computer (HTC) will start marketing this quarter its 3.5G-enabled HTC Touch Dual smartphones in the US in cooperation with Best Buy, according to a company press release.
The Touch Dual will be among the first devices in the US to run Windows Mobile 6.1 and will be followed by a range of 6.1 updates for several other HTC products, Jason Mackenzie, vice president of HTC America, stated in the press release.
Some of HTC's most popular smartphones including the HTC Touch and Mogul from Sprint, Tilt from AT&T, HTC Touch and PPC 6800 from Alltel Wireless, as well as HTC TyTN II, will be among the first of many devices available for a Windows Mobile 6.1 upgrade, the company said.
In other news, Microsoft announced that a number handset vendors and telecom services operators, including Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Samsung Electronics, Palm, Pantech, Asustek Computer, Hewlett-Packard, Toshiba, T-Mobile, Verizon, Vodafone and Telus, will also begin to launch Windows Mobile 6.1-based handsets in the second quarter.
