Quickoffice® and ARM Partner To Provide Superior Mobile Viewing Technology

Collaboration provides BitFlash Scalable Vector Graphics technology to platform vendors and cell phone manufacturers

Dallas, – Quickoffice, Inc., the leading global provider of innovative software and solutions for the mobile business professional, announced its Scalable Vector Graphics Tiny (SVGT) Platform has been selected by ARM to be optimized for the ARM® Mali™ Graphics Architecture. The partnership will benefit developers of ARM technology-based system-on-chip (SoC) designs, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and mobile platform vendors, such as Symbian and Windows Mobile. The BitFlash SVGT Platform is the industry leader in standards-based graphics software for wireless multimedia.

The BitFlash SVGT Platform provides a standards-based solution for creating innovative new products. This platform is a critical ingredient for building rich graphical user interfaces (UIs). It also enhances the mobile user experience, such as the ability to view high-quality email attachments. Now, cell phone manufacturers can take advantage of SVGT technology when developing rich media applications, user interfaces and other applications for mobile handsets distributed in the wireless market.

"This engagement extends the ARM Mali graphics support by providing an optimized solution for SVGT, which is becoming increasingly important in the 2D user interface space," said Michael Dimelow, director of marketing, ARM Media Processing Division. "This will ultimately benefit our customers by ensuring optimized and pre-verified solutions thereby lowering risk and reducing time to market."

"Within the past year, consumer expectations for compelling user-interface and screen design have risen dramatically," said Gregg Fiddes, vice president of sales and strategic partnerships, Quickoffice. "By combining BitFlash’s market-leading SVGT platform with ARM Mali graphics acceleration technology and market leadership position, we can provide the necessary tools for OEMs to meet these demands."

Quickoffice’s BitFlash technology offers a unique mobile SVGT implementation based on established open standards. This provides an excellent environment for creating and distributing high-quality multimedia of all types, including infotainment, office documents, wireless applications and custom UI design.

Quickoffice and BitFlash entered into an exclusive license agreement in 2006. The BitFlash Mobile SVGT Platform allows OEMs and mobile platform vendors to meet operator requirements, such as interactive SVG Tiny 1.2 implementation and mobile Java specifications JSR 226 and JSR 287 API.
