More European telecom operators to buy HTC-branded handsets from HTC
More telecom operators in Europe plan to purchase HTC-branded mobile phones from HTC instead of using their own brand names as previously, according to Florian Seiche, vice president of HTC Europe.
Vodafone, for example, will purchase the Touch Diamond from HTC bearing, for the first time, only the HTC brand name without the Vodafone brand name, Seiche noted.
In addition, Hutchsion 3 will also step up cooperation with HTC in the promotion of the HTC-branded Touch Diamond, Seiche added.
In 2007, about 35% of HTC's European revenues were contributed by shipments of ODM-branded mobile phones to telecom operators, and the proportion of such revenues is expected to drop to 15-20% in 2008, Seiche claimed. In other words, about 80% of mobile phones shipped to telecom operators in Europe will bear only the HTC brand.
