Zyxel expected to land WiMAX CPE orders from Pakistan Mobilink

Zyxel Communications is likely to land orders for WiMAX CPE (customer premise equipment) products from Pakistan service operator Mobilink at the ongoing CommunicAsia 2008 expo in Singapore, according to industrial sources participating in the event.

The chance is high for Zyxel to secure the orders from Mobilink because Zyxel's WiMAX CPE products have passed the interoperability tests with WiMAX base stations coming from Alcatel-Lucent, Motorola, Samsung Electronics and Nortel Networks, the sources indicated.

If the orders are finalized, Zyxel is expected to begin shipping WiMAX CPE products to Mobilink in the fourth quarter of this year with shipment volumes likely to reach 30,000-50,000 units, the sources noted.

In addition to WiMAX products, Zyxel is also exhibiting its VoIP and WLAN solutions as well as central office equipment at CommunicAsia, according to company sources.
