Chunghwa Telecom's planned adoption of MSTV for MOD not a given
While Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) is apparently inclined to adopt MSTV, the Microsoft-developed IPTV system, in place of OPM (open media platform) developed by Alcatel-Lucent for its MOD (multimedia on demand) open platform, three independent directors from CHT's board have questioned the feasibility of so doing, according to the Chinese-language newspaper Economic Daily News (EDN).
The three directors, at a meeting held by the auditing committee of CHT board last week, called for prudential comparison of MSTV and OPM in terms of costs incurred and development potential as well as current conditions of use around the world, EDN pointed out. The three directors urged CHT staff to re-evaluate the feasibility of adopting MSTV and maintaining OPM each for CHT to make a final decision, EDN indicated.
