Handset component players recovering from low season, June revenues improve

Taiwan handset components makers' June revenues rebounded, and players are optimistic regarding revenue growth in the second half of the year, said market sources.

Ichia Technologies' June consolidated revenues reached a historical record of NT$720 million (US$23.7 million), up 12.3% from NT$641 million in May, and its consolidated revenues for first half of the year reached NT$3.6 billion, up 9.9% on year, according to a company press release.

Ichia pointed out that shipment for handset keypads and FPC grow as expected, its revenues started to recover in May and June.

Merry Electronics announced its June consolidated revenues of NT$808 million were up 29.4% from NT$ 625 million in May and up 7.8% on year. The company's accumulated revenues for the first half of the year were NT$4.35 billion, according to data from the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).

Merry indicated that its June revenues reached NT$800 million as expected, which means customer shipments for new handsets have started to recover, and according to its current order situation, the company forecast its revenues in the third quarter may surpass its second quarter total.

Market sources indicated that worldwide first-tier handset vendor will continue to introduce new handsets in the second half of the year, which will help to bring up the component makers' shipments and revenues in the third quarter.
