HTC June revenues meet market expectations, to begin selling CDMA Diamond in Canada in 3Q
High Tech Computer (HTC) posted revenues of NT$11.84 billion (US$389.5 million) in June, up 8.2% on month and up 21.1% on year, according to a company press release. The performance met market expectations of revenues of NT$11-12 billion for HTC in June.
For the second quarter, revenues were up 28.9% on year to NT$34.62 billion, surpassing the NT$34 billion the company projected earlier.
However, after-tax profits were down 6.3% sequentially to NT$6.44 billion in the second quarter due to a one-off appropriation of unused inventory and rising marketing expenses, the company indicated.
After adjusting for employees' bonuses, the EPS (earnings per share) reached NT$11.23 in the second quarter, brining the EPS for the first half of this year to NT$23.35, said the company.
In other news, Canada-based services provider Telus is expected to begin marketing the CDMA-version of the HTC Touch Diamond handsets in the third quarter of this year, according to market sources. HTC originally planned to start selling the Touch Diamond in the North American market in the fourth quarter.
