New release Sony Ericsson Java ME SDK supports MIDlet profiling and Project Capuchin
The new version of the Sony Ericsson SDK for the Java™ ME platform supports four new features: MIDlet profiling, Project Capuchin, enhanced configuration of connected devices and Mobile Sensor API (JSR 256) emulation. Version 2.5.0.3 is available for download and below is an overview of the key enhancements.

The four new features in version 2.5.0.3 of the Sony Ericsson SDK for the Java ME platform are:
1. MIDlet profiling support
Version 2.5.0.3 of this SDK introduces profiling support for MIDlets on Java Platform 8 (JP-8) mobile phones and later. It is now possible to perform CPU profiling of a MIDlet in the Device Explorer. This allows you to detect and analyze CPU bottlenecks in your code.

2. Project Capuchin API support
Project Capuchin is a bridging technology between Flash Lite™ and Java ME making it possible to take advantage of Flash's strengths in fast UI deployment and well established designer tools, meanwhile Java's strengths are in services, security and a well developed distribution infrastructure.
Offering the Project Capuchin API through the Sony Ericsson Java SDK 2.5.0.3 allows you to create highly visually appealing Java ME applications where some parts, or all, of the UI is defined in Flash Lite while platform services are accessed through Java.
3. Enhanced configuration of connected devices
The configuration of a connected device has been greatly improved by the introduction of a Windows Service (Sony Ericsson SDK Service). This service can be configured in the sdkme.properties which then requires a restart of the service and all SDK tools. The service will automatically connect the Connection Proxy to a device once a phone is connected and completely configured.
This SDK release also includes further enhancements to the Connection Proxy. It will now, in most cases, connect and disconnect automatically when using USB.
The process of connecting to a phone over Bluetooth™ has been improved. Open the sdkme.properties and change the settings as described in the comments of the file.
4. Emulation support for Mobile Sensor API (JSR 256)
The WTK emulator now contains support for the Mobile Sensors API (JSR 256). The GUI is available under External events in the menu of the emulator.
This SDK version incorporates all features included in previous releases of the Sony Ericsson SDK for the Java ME Platform.
Reminder: On device feature support
All On device features in Sony Ericsson JP-8 phones or later require the Developer Mode to be activated through the service menu. This menu is accessed using the following key sequence: Right Star Left Left Star Left Star (> * < < * < *).
On Device Debugging is available for Sony Ericsson JP-4 or later and the Sony Ericsson Symbian Java Platform 3.5 (SJP-3.5) or later.
Resource Monitor and CPU profiling is supported by Sony Ericsson JP-8.3.2 or later.
