PlayNow™ content download services expand with new channels, markets and music tracks
Sony Ericsson now offers a family of PlayNow™ branded content download channels – PlayNow, PlayNow arena, PlayNow uncut and PlayNow plus. September 24, 2008 saw the announcement of the new PlayNow plus unlimited music download service and the expansion of PlayNow arena online store with music tracks from Universal Music Group and new market rollouts during 2008.

PlayNow
Sony Ericsson introduced PlayNow in February 2004 as an easy way to pre-listen and then purchase polyphonic ringtones directly on the phone. The service has proved to be a hit with end-users and is now available in 32 countries around the world, with annual downloads of over 200 million through the PlayNow and Fun & Downloads channels. Since launch, the scope of the service has expanded to mirror the functionality of Sony Ericsson's phones to include mastertones (MP3 ringtones), games, full-track music, themes and wallpapers.
PlayNow arena
New for 2008, PlayNow arena is more than an online store; it's a unique multimedia experience. The PlayNow arena allows end-users to access a full range of free and premium content via their mobile phone (over-the-air) or computer (website) including games, ringtones, themes, wallpapers, full-track DRM-free music and TrackID™ charts. PlayNow arena is an upgraded version of Sony Ericsson's original PlayNow in-phone over-the-air service, is browser-based requiring no new software on the phone and will be available on most Sony Ericsson phones.
PlayNow arena was launched in the Nordic countries on August 25, 2008 and will be rolled out to the UK, the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria and Switzerland during Q4 2008.
On September 24, 2008 Sony Ericsson announced an expanded music offering with the addition of Universal Music Group's catalog which means that PlayNow arena will be one of the first legal music services to offer DRM-free music from all of the major and independent music labels.

PlayNow plus
Announced on September 24, 2008, PlayNow plus is a "straight-out-of-the box" music download service available to end-users via subscription for use both on Sony Ericsson phones and the computer. PlayNow plus is due for commercial launch with the Swedish operator Telenor in Q4 2008 with further roll-outs around the world in early 2009.
PlayNow plus guarantees unlimited, "all-you-can-eat" access to millions of music tracks and draws from Sony Ericsson's collaboration with Omnifone and major music labels including EMI, Sony BMG, Universal Music Group, Warner Music and many local music labels.
PlayNow plus mobile client and PC player.
PlayNow uncut
PlayNow uncut (previously known as M-BUZZ) is a promotional space for breaking new and emerging artists via Sony Ericsson's product, content and marketing channels. PlayNow uncut showcases selected, previously unreleased tracks, videos, artwork, interviews, tour dates and other artist information on Sony Ericsson mobile phones and the web at www.playnow-uncut.com
Fun & Downloads
Another content download channel is Sony Ericsson's Fun & Downloads web portal and WAP service. With the focus on fun and entertainment, end-users are presented with ringtones, images, video clips, wallpapers, themes, animated content and games.
