Hollywood's Next Generation to be Revealed at AFI FEST 2008 on November 8

Industry Insiders Give Back To Emerging Teen Moviemakers

LOS ANGELES, -- Teen filmmakers get their time in the spotlight amidst the flashbulb frenzy at AFI FEST, one of the country's most renowned film festivals. AFI's Youth FEST, presented by Samsung Mobile Fresh Films, brings together teen talent and Hollywood pros to share tips of the trade and get a sneak peak at what the next wave of Hollywood hopefuls have to offer.

Sean Astin, actor (THE LORD OF THE RINGS) and 2008 Fresh Films Juror, noted, "Everyone lucky to find success in Hollywood should take the time to share what they've learned with the next group of creative talent because they have a responsibility to give back to the industry that has already given them so much."

Youth FEST, presented by Samsung Mobile Fresh Films, the nation's leading teen filmmaking program, will feature movie premieres, interactive panels, and award presentations crafted to showcase and inspire the filmmakers of tomorrow. Special guests and presenters include: actor James Cromwell (SIX FEET UNDER and W), executive producer Bob Levy (GOSSIP GIRL), indie-film expert Chris Gore (FILM THREAT), actor Jon Gries (NAPOLEON DYNAMITE, and director Joe Nussbaum (SYDNEY WHITE).

Youth FEST will also feature the theatrical debut of the winning film, Saturday, of the Samsung Mobile Fresh Films competition, created by an all-teen crew from Dallas, who will celebrate the debut of their film live at Youth FEST. Additionally, the Youth FEST audience will get an exclusive sneak peak at a groundbreaking teen-produced documentary capturing the story behind the Army National Guard. Never before has a military organization given exclusive access to a group of young filmmakers enabling them to use their unique voice and perspective to share the real stories of the National Guard with people all across America.

Youth FEST will be held on Saturday, November 8, at the state of the art ArcLight Hollywood theater. The event is open to the public. For updated schedule information visit http://www.fresh-films.com and to purchase tickets visit http://www.afi.com.

Samsung Mobile Fresh Films, the creators of Youth FEST, are dedicated to providing young talent with the technology and hands-on experiences they need to build confidence and career skills -- one short film at a time. This summer Samsung Mobile Fresh Films gave 100 teens from coast-to-coast their chance to create short films. Teens generated nationwide awareness garnering over 3 million votes as their films competed for America's vote and a Hollywood premiere at Youth FEST. Fifteen teens, on our Dallas-based Samsung Mobile Fresh Films crew, campaigned for America's vote and emerged victorious winning the 2008 Viewer's Choice Award and will celebrate live at Youth FEST in Hollywood.

Taylor Gonzalez, Dallas Samsung Mobile Fresh Filmmaker said, "Thank you Samsung Mobile Fresh Films. This has been the greatest experience I've ever had."

Each year thousands of teens apply to be a part of Samsung Mobile Fresh Films, but teens aren't the only ones getting involved as Hollywood professionals, from all sides of the camera, can be found acting in the teen-produced films, providing critique and feedback on our Hollywood Jury, or attending Youth FEST. Hollywood pros are instrumental in helping young filmmakers take their creative and cinematic skills to the next level while raising awareness across America about what the future in film has to offer.
