HTC expects revenues to grow 23% on year to NT$48 billion in 4Q08

High Tech Computer (HTC) expects revenues to grow 23% on year to NT$48 billion (US$1.45 billion) in the fourth quarter of this year buoyed by the launch of HTC Diamond-series handsets as well as T-Mobile G1 phones, CFO Hui-ming Cheng said at a recent investors conference.

For the whole of 2008, revenues are expected to grow 29% over the amount recorded in 2008, Cheng added. Based on HTC's 2007 revenues of NT$118.58 billion, the company's revenues are likely to surpass the NT$150 billion mark, estimated market sources.

In addition, Cheng also reported that HTC's gross margin stood at 34.2% in the third quarter compared to 34.5% the previous quarter and 33.4% a year earlier. For the fourth quarter, the company expects gross margin to fall to 30-32% due to depreciation of the euro as revenues denominated in euros currently account for 30-35% of total revenues.

Although HTC has yet to reveal its projected revenues for 2009, sources at Taiwan-based securities houses have estimated revenues are to continue to grow robustly at 30% on year, probably topping NT$199 billion.
