HTC raises shipment forecasts for G1 and Touch Diamond handsets

High Tech Computer (HTC) expects cumulative shipments of the T-Mobile G1 to reach one million units by the end of 2008, according to company CEO Peter Chou on November 21. The company also expects to ship three million Touch Diamond models by year's end. Both forecast are higher the the company's original projections.

Chou denied rumors that HTC is facing decreased orders and will lay off staff, claiming that HTC's business has not been influenced by the global economic recession. Chou also revealed that HTC is planning to acquire a handset design company in the US but did not give any further details.
