Intel is helping Russian students

Since its founding in 1968, Intel Corporation is actively cooperating with government agencies and organizations to provide the youth of the world of education, much needed today to become competitive in the labor market on a global scale. Intel Corporation argues that miracles are not doing computers and teachers. Almost ten years of the program «Intel. Education for the Future »(Intel Teach) enables teachers to better educate students around the world. Teachers receive skills as successful and beneficial use of information technology and communication in the classroom to develop critical thinking skills and joint training of research students. To date, more than 5 million teachers in more than 50 countries around the world have been trained under this program, and by 2011 plans to increase this number to 13 million teachers.

Since 2002, the Russian training centers program «Intel. Education for the Future »500 thousand teachers and students of pedagogical universities mastered the technique of including elements of computer education in the educational process. Intel Corporation has set itself an even more ambitious goal: in five years to prepare, in Russia more than 1 million teachers, practitioners and students of pedagogical universities to perform their high mission - education of people the new millennium.

Yet the most wide-ranging and ambitious program last year - «One-to-pupil - one computer». Along with the fund «Volnoe case» Intel holds a range of pilot projects to equip schools in Novosibirsk and Yaroslavl region, in St. Petersburg, Krasnodar school PC (Classmate PC). Fund «Volnoe case» implementing similar projects in the Irkutsk and Sverdlovsk Oblast, Yaroslavl and Nizhny Novgorod. Donated laptops or incorporated into an existing IT infrastructure of schools, or around this infrastructure is beginning to build «zero». December 4-5 in Moscow will be a conference, which will summarize these pilot projects, and participants will exchange experiences and to identify prospects for future work. The conference invited representatives from other regions, which are interested in the project's work will involve representatives from Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Azerbaijan. Incidentally, pilot projects «One pupil - one computer» has started in Ukraine and Kazakhstan. It would like to see the realization of this interesting project involved government agencies, although it should be noted that at the pilot stage, we are receiving support from urban and regional education departments.

Russia has become one of the first countries in the world where the project is implemented on a national scale. Active than in our homeland, it develops only in Portugal. He was named «Magellan» and developed with the support of prime minister. A special fund, which sponsored the production and introduction of school computers. Parents of schoolchildren junior Student can purchase PCs for primary classes for 50 euros, a senior - for 150 euros (admittedly, they are more powerful). Along with the purchase of laptops have a right to access to Internet services for 18 euros a month. The implementation of the project involved the suppliers of educational applications, so students do not receive a «blank» laptop, but this mobile computer with everything necessary for modern education. If such practices would benefit all - parents, children, the State, PC vendors and Internet service providers. The scale of the project - 500 thousand school PCs - clearly shows that it can not be realized without government support. Impressions results of the project, Venezuela plans to implement something similar on its territory by ordering a PC from Portuguese producers. There, the scale should reach one million school has a PC.
