LG Names Mindefect the Winner of the Rally for Music Promotion
Competition Concludes With More Than 11,000 Online Votes
SAN DIEGO, /PRNewswire/ -- To continue the historical support of music, LG Electronics MobileComm U.S.A Inc. (LG Mobile Phones) focused for the past 6 months on finding the next big act. Bands from across the United States logged online to create personal profiles, share music videos and ultimately enter to win the grand prize of bragging rights and $15,000. Although over 800 bands participated, Mindefect from Galesburg, Illinois prevailed as the winner of the LG: Rally for Music Promotion.
"As we said all along, we are playing with some very talented groups, and we really needed our fans to show they knew what we were capable of by voting for us," said Kirk Walters of Mindefect. "We stand by that statement and we have nothing but respect for the other finalists. Our fans truly are the greatest and continue to show it over and over again. We also want to thank LG for the opportunity to put our music in front of a whole new set of listeners."
Mindefect was one of four finalists who performed in a battle of the bands style concert at the South Street Seaport in New York City during the final round of the Rally for Music competition. During this concert, each band preformed live and was followed by a special, free concert by headliner Gym Class Heroes. The performances were uploaded to www.rallyformusic.com where fans were able to vote for their favorite band. Voting began September 24 and ended October 23 with over 11,000 votes cast.
"Rally for Music was created to connect, inspire and motivate all music lovers," said Ehtisham Rabbani, vice president of marketing and product strategy for LG Mobile Phones. "LG appreciates the importance of music and we are happy to congratulate Mindefect on their success."
