Asustek to launch low-cost Eee phone in March, says paper
Asustek Computer plans to expand its Eee family lineup by introducing a low-cost Eee phone in March, the Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) quoted company chairman Jonney Shih as indicating.
The launch of the low-cost of Eee phone will be part of the company's revised strategy to focus on the development of "affordable quality products" for consumers whose purchasing power have been affected by the global economic slump, the paper quoted Shih as saying.
Asustek originally planned to unveil the low-cost Eee phone in 2008 but rescheduled the launch to March 2009, said the EDN, which also noted that the specifications of the Eee phone are not yet available.
