Taiwan market: Arcoa to launch Utec-branded 3.5G network cards and netbooks
Taiwan-based retail channel operator Arcoa, which currently focuses on marketing its own Utec own-branded handsets, will expand its product mix to include Utec-branded 3.5G network cards and netbooks, according to company sources.
The Utec-branded 3.5G network cards will be available at the end of the first quarter of 2009, whereas the Utec netbooks may debut in the second half of the year, the sources indicated.
Arcoa, the seventh ranked branded handset vendor in Taiwan, shipped 130,000 Utec-branded handsets in the Taiwan market in 2008, said the sources, adding that the company plans to launch 18-22 new handsets in 2009 aiming at a sales volume of 130,000-150,000 units.
The company, on January 7, launched four handsets in the Taiwan market, including the M960 touch screen handset, M950 dual-SIM card mobile TV handset, and B550 dual-SIM card touch-screen business phone. The four handsets, all built with chipset solutions from MediaTek, are priced between NT$5,990 (US$181) and NT$9,900.
