Chunghwa Telecom 2008 profit beats target
Chunghwa Telecom (CHT) has reported self-estimated net profit of NT$45.33 billion (US$1.37 billion) for 2008, exceeding the goal of NT$43.60 billion by 3.97% and equivalent to net earnings per share (EPS) of NT$3.9.
Taiwan Mobile (TWM), another large operator of mobile communication service in Taiwan, has released its financial projection for 2009, with net profit expected to decrease 10% from 2008.
TWM's board of directors has approved the company's 2009 capital expenditure (capex) budget of NT$6.87 billion. The budget, TWM's record low capex, consists of NT$5.02 billion for use in infrastructure of mobile communications, NT$1.3 billion for fixed-line networks and NT$550 million for cable TV networks, the company pointed out.
