Taiwan market: Apple takes up handset sixth ranking with 2.2% share in December
Sales of Apple's iPhone 3G handsets totaled 12,000 units in the Taiwan market in December, taking up the sixth ranked position with a 2.2% share in terms of sales for the month, according to the latest data provided by retail channels in Taiwan.
Nokia remained the top vendor with a 29.8% market share in December, up from 29.4% in the previous month. Samsung Electronics followed with an 18.1% share, down from 20% in November. However, LG Electronics (LGE) outperformed Motorola for the first time in the Taiwan market to capture the fourth ranking in December with a record high 9.6% share.
High Tech Computer (HTC) also saw its handset sales in the local market increase slightly in December, taking a 1% share.
Handset sales in the Taiwan market reached only 546,000 units in December, bringing total sales volume for all of 2008 to 7.18 million units, the data showed.
