During a speech at a reception for representatives of FMCA industry, organized by Intel's Mobile World Congress, Andrews has demonstrated a model system that allows switching between connections WiMAX (4G) and 3G (in both directions), without interrupting the data exchange sessions.
Fixed Mobile Convergence Alliance - a group of 32 providers and global IT companies, have joined forces to bring colleagues to the wishes of users and assess the significance of the development of future technologies and services. Demonstrated a system allowing users to open any number of IP sessions and simultaneously browse the web sites, launch applications IP-telephony services such as Google-Talk, and YouTube to take the flow of news from the Internet. Switching between 3G and WiMAX networks will happen automatically in approximately 50 ms and not perceived as an interruption of the user connection. Has been identified as critical features of the new system: at a time is active, only one of the available transceivers. This reduces, and even the necessity of synchronization of two modules on the transmission and reception. The system is based on equipment operating in accordance with the standards in 3GPP and the WiMAX Forum.
