Sony says no to PSP phone from joint venture
Sony Ericsson will not be building a PSP phone ... for now
Stop us if you've heard this one before, but we have to break it to you that there isn't going to be a PSP phone anytime soon.
Well-positioned sources are reporting that Sony has refused the Sony Ericsson mobile phone joint-venture permission to use the PSP badge on any new phone.
Specs not up to it
Whether that means Sony is itself planning to release a phone based on the smallest PlayStation or just that it isn't mad about the idea of Sony Ericsson going to town on its intellectual property is, however, still a closed book.
An unnamed Sony Ericsson spokesperson merely said: "We feel at the moment the technical specs are not high enough to put such a prestigious brand on a phone."
Note the "at the moment" part of that – let the guessing continue.
