T-Mobile Advert Spoof Closes Train Station

London's Liverpool Street train station was overrun by a "flash mob" of dancers on Friday evening after an estimated 12,000 people arrived to recreate a dance featured in a current T-Mobile advertising campaign.

The TV advert was itself the result of a flash-mob style event, where some 400 dancers dressed as normal commuters suddenly started dancing on the main concourse at the train station on the mid-morning of January 15th.

The Friday evening event was coordinated via the Facebook website, and the local police had to close the station for around an hour due to concerns about overcrowding. The event started at 7pm, and the police started moving people out about a quarter of an hour later.

A City of London Police spokeswoman, who was on the scene said: "We had to close the station because it was completely overcrowded. There were around 12,000 people here.

"The event was generally good humoured but we had to act because people would not leave.

"We had to make a couple of arrests for public order offences, but on the whole it was a peaceful and fun event."

The T-Mobile advert

On Friday 6th Feb 2009, thousands of people went to London Liverpool Street Station to take part in the dance-off associated with the recent T-Mobile ad campaign, these are the videos I shot as I was making my way through London for a night out.
