Ericsson and DT 100GET experienced on the existing optical platform

Company Ericsson and Deutsche Telekom (DT) reported on the successful field testing of optical transmission in a wider bandwidth. Ericsson and DT participated in the research of public-funded projects 100GET, in which the test and passed. New technology (in the tests used WDM-platform Marconi MHL 3000), according to the companies, will ensure steady growth in consumer broadband services in fixed and mobile broadband networks. Optical transport system significantly increases the capacity of existing fiber-optic networks, enabling operators to gradually invest in infrastructure, as well as reduce energy consumption per bit of information and as a consequence of significantly reduced costs.

To demonstrate the use of existing transmission connection mixed traffic 10G and 40G diversity channels with 50 GHz. The rate of 112 Gbit / s was due to RZ-DQPSK modulation with dual polarization and fast tracking of polarization in a standard singlemode fiber (SMF) on the length of 600 km. The connection consists of several multiplexers ROADM and unevenly distributed amplifiers. Laboratory studies have shown that in the event of an optimized length of connections is possible to construct an optical path length of more than 1200 km.
