LitePoint to focus marketing on smartphone, MID and notebook sectors
Wireless testing solutions provider LitePoint will focus its marketing on the smartphone segment, which is expected to grow 25-30% worldwide in 2009 despite a projected slowdown for the overall handset industry, according to company vice president Rob Brownstein. The company will also target the MID (mobile Internet device) and netbook/notebook sectors due to rising demand for integrated multiple wireless communication solutions on portable devices.
The current global shipments of over 1.5 billion units of handsets, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth-enabled devices allow wireless testing solutions vendors to generate revenues of US$1 billion a year, Brownstein estimated.
With consumers' demand for integrated wireless communications functionality at digital cameras and other consumer electronics products, the market for wireless testing solutions will continue to expand in the future, Brownstein noted.
