Acer to offer Android-powered smartphone in 4Q09
Acer, on June 1, announced that it has joined the Open Handset Alliance (OHA), saying it plans to launch its first Android-powered smartphone in the fourth quarter of 2009.
Acer is the third Taiwan-based vendor to join the OHA following High Tech Computer (HTC) and Asustek Computer.
HTC has already launched two Android-powered smartphones, the HTC Dream and HTC Magic, and plans to launch 3-4 further models in the second half of 2009. Asustek is expected to unveil its first Android-based smartphone soon.
