Computex 2009: Intel introduces new CPUs, chipset, and wireless technology
Intel has introduced four new processors, including a low-power version, and a value chipset, to usher in mainstream ultra-thin notebooks. Intel CULV processors will enable new consumer notebook designs less than an inch thick, weighing 2-5 pounds, and at mainstream price points.
Intel has extended its standard voltage (SV) Intel Core 2 Duo processor product line, with offerings up to 3.06GHz.
In addition, Intel has unveiled the Mobile Intel GS40 Express chipset for the new CULV-based notebooks. The value chipset enables CULV-based notebooks to support features consumers have come to expect from notebooks including HD playback, Windows Vista Premium support and native support for integrated HDMI, said Intel.
Consumers have a choice when it comes to wireless options of either WiMAX or Intel My Wi-Fi Technology.
Using Intel's My Wi-Fi Technology, more devices can be wirelessly connect to Intel Centrino 2 processor technology notebooks. The technology transforms a notebook into a Wi-Fi personal area network, connecting directly with up to eight Wi-Fi certified devices without cables or wires, including cameras, printers, HDTV and digital music players, said Intel.
