Communicator for the deaf and blind
HumanWare Company in conjunction with the Washington Center for deaf and hearing bad communicator designed for people with disabilities. The system was named DeafBlind Communicator (DBC) and is designed for those who are deprived and hearing and vision. The model is designed to provide direct communication, teletype (TTY) and send SMS-messages.
Communicator consists of two separate devices: Braille keyboard and phone DB-Phone. The keyboard is performed in two variants: QWERTY and Perkins. Phone DB-Phone - a specially designed model of a mobile phone with a QWERTY-keyboard and a specialized software. Staff DB-Phone can operate within the network, so outside of it (at the same time it provides a Bluetooth-connected keyboard with Braille). In addition to basic capabilities communicator DBC user an opportunity to enable advanced applications: a voice processor, diary, e-mail, Internet browser and a program for reading electronic books.
